April - 'A Town Called Solace' by Mary Lawson
Cover image for Town Called Solace
"This brilliant and emotionally radiant new novel opens on a family in crisis: rebellious teenager Rose been missing for weeks with no word, and Rose's younger sister, the feisty and fierce Clara, keeps a daily vigil at the living-room window, hoping for her sibling's return. The novel uncovers the layers of grief, remorse, and love that connect families, both the ones we're born into and the ones we choose.  This is a masterful, suspenseful and deeply humane novel by one of our great storytellers."
March - 'The Paris Library' by Janet Skeslien Charles
Cover image for Paris Library
"When World War II breaks out, Odile stands to lose everything she holds dear—including her beloved library. After the Nazi army marches into the City of Light and declares a war on words, Odile and her fellow librarians join the Resistance with the best weapons they have: books. Again and again, they risk their lives to help their fellow Jewish readers, but by war’s end, Odile tastes the bitter sting of unspeakable betrayal."
Books On Main is excited to be able to offer a monthly book club to our customers!
Why join a book club?
It is a fun way to meet and discuss with other avid readers as well as to explore some of the amazing new works of fiction!

What kind of books does the club read?
Each month members vote to select a recently released fiction book to explore together. We frequently highlight Canadian writers. Clubbers can then pick up their copy anytime after the 1st of the month and enjoy a 15% discount off the title!

How do members meet and discuss?
Throughout the month, clubbers are encouraged to share and discuss on the club Facebook page and this is also where they can receive important updates about upcoming titles, meeting dates and other important information. Members not on social media can be contacted by email or phone. At the end of each month we offer a selection of times and dates for in-person discussion meet-ups. Meetings are limited to eight people per time slot. Due to the current situation with Covid-19 we will employ social distancing at meetings, clubbers are asked to wear masks and hand sanitizer is provided. Meetings are relaxed, book-centered and fun! ***Update: Meetings will be Zoom only until further notice***

How do I join the book club?
You can request access to the Facebook group here. You can also join in person at the shop, by email at or over the phone at 613 881-0346.

What happens if I miss a month?
Out of town? This month’s book not your cup of tea? No problem! Participation both online and at the in-person meetings is completely voluntary and flexible from month to month. There is no commitment to purchase the book of the month.
Happy Reading!
